One-day Introduction to Egg Tempera (Still Life)

ABOUT THE COURSE: In this one-day course students will learn the theory and practice of egg tempera painting. This course is open to all interested, no matter what level of knowledge or experience. The instructor will supply paints only and still-life objects to be depicted. All other supplies need to be brought by the student. Students will learn how to mix egg emulsion and how to apply colors. They will also learn about different ancient and medieval techniques (still applicable today!) in the use of egg tempera.
MANDATORY TO BRING–BRUSHES: One water color wash brush: very fluffy, at least 1ʺ wide. One stipple brush or a beat-up brush for mixing. One small watercolor brush for detail: script #1 or #2. Several larger brushes for blending: rounds #2 or #3. Optional to bring: pencil, eraser, rinse jar, palette, ruler, scissors, drafting compass
